The Emilie Project

Emilie Parker's young life was heartbreakingly cut short during the Sandy Hook (Connecticut) Elementary School shooting. To honor her life, help make “The Emilie Project” viral.

In a heart wrenching, post-shooting CNN address, Emilie’s father, Robert, shared this about his oldest daughter:

“As the deep pain begins to settle into our hearts, we find comfort reflecting on the incredible person Emilie was and how many lives she was able to touch in her short time here on Earth. She loved to use her talents to touch the lives of everyone she came into contact with. She was an exceptional artist. She always carried around her markers and pencils so that she never missed an opportunity to draw a picture or make a card for those around her. I can’t count the number of times Emilie noticed someone feeling sad or frustrated and would rush to find a piece of paper to draw them a picture or write them an encouraging note.”

To carry on Emilie’s great work, why not make it a habit to regularly contribute to the world in the same lovely, loving way Emilie did – with the “Emilie Project”? It has three simple, perfect steps:

  1. Be aware of someone “sad” or “frustrated.” (This is the most important and difficult step. Most of us our so concerned with our own issues, we don’t notice the need in others.)

  2. Draw a picture. Write an encouraging note. Make it into a card. (Be as creative as you wish. Emilie would have wanted you to.)

  3. Give it to the person to make him or her feel better – and to multiply the impact and carry on the legacy of a 6-year-old who made our world better for having been in it.
